Seeking Writers, Volunteers for Website
Not all BAIPA members are writers, but many of us are. And almost all of us are trying to promote ourselves or our work in one way or another.
Meanwhile, we have this BAIPA website, which has untapped potential as a platform that can help all of us. (I’m the new webmaster and I’m committed to tap that potential.)
So, a week late, here’s my proposal for a BAIPA New Year’s Resolution — we pool our writing chops to raise the visibility of each other and our organization.
We have a blog where we primarily share news about BAIPA members (readings, awards, book launches) and upcoming events. I just now created an author interview section on the site that we hope to expand this year. (We’ve got eight interviews posted — see them below. If you’d like to interview another author or be interviewed, please contact me at [email protected].)
There are plenty of other ways to contribute. Like writing up a brief summary of our morning meeting or afternoon workshop. Here’s an example. Here’s another. (I was going to give a shout-out to whoever wrote those, then I saw that it was me. Alas. But it can be you.)
Or you can share bloopers, like Tom Finnegan does.
We’ve talked about new features, like asking members to post the first page of their book. Or pulling together a dozen or more promotional blurbs and talking about what makes them sing.
We’re also seeking people who can help with the back end of the website — troubleshooting, maintenance, SEO. You can talk to me at the meetings or contact me at [email protected].
