Metadata Workshop

The Secrets of Unlocking Categories, Keywords, Descriptions, ISBNs, and More to Sell Your Books

with David Kudler

How do readers find our books — whether at a bookstore or online? Metadata, that’s how!

In this fascinating exploration of a seemingly eye-glazing topic, author, publisher, and long-time BAIPA member David Kudler will delve into all of the ways that the data connected to our books helps our ideal readers to find them.

This hands-on workshop will build on the introduction to Metadata by Shelley Adina on March 4, and will go deeper into:

• Categories
• Keywords
• Title/subtitle
• Pen name/collaborators
• Descriptions
• ISBNs
• Covers (!)
• Pricing
• and much more

We will look at tools and methods for getting the most of your metadata, and walk through the process of creating and adding that metadata to websites like Bowker’s MyIdentifiers.com, the Library of Congress, Amazon KDP, etc.

As part of the workshop, Kudler will give feedback on metadata shared by attendees.
