Cristina Olsen from Novato has just published her book of poetry and photography, Kissing the Sky (Suncloud Press, 2014). It is available on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/author/cristinaolsen) and is steadily circulating into local Bay Area bookstores.
Cristina is originally from Argentina and sailed into the San Francisco port with her parents when she was 14. After graduating from Tamalpais High School, she embarked on a nomadic life for close to 30 years, travelling throughout Europe and South America, and living and working as an English-Spanish language teacher, interpreter and translator. Se earned a doctorate in Spirituality and Geography from the Graduate Theological Union and became a commuting lecturer, both in the U.S and abroad.
Cristina eventually settled in Marin County. Always looking for new horizons, she plunged into a 12-year career as a grant writer and fundraiser for various educational and environmental organizations (she also needed to pay off her student loans!). Always an avid photographer and reader of poetry, she eventually drank enough Sonoma and Napa wine to fortify her heart and step forth with great courage as a poet in her own right.
From London to the vast Pampas of Argentina, from Buenos Aires to the hills of Novato, in Kissing the Sky, Cristina weaves a meditative tapestry of poetry and photography celebrating the beauty of nature and its power to transform pain into joy.
