With the July 8 BAIPA speaker on How to Get Book Reviews That Count, and the recent blog posts about “the end” by David Colin Carr and John Byrne Barry (my graphic novel RIP COREY is about a very close 23 year-old friend who died unexpectedly five years ago), I thought an update on the book review phase of my Kickstarter campaign would be perfect timing…
How many reviews can my 74 Kickstarter backers net me?
To my Kickstarter backers:
- Kickstarter enabled me to send email updates to all my backers, so I showed them the book’s progress over the 6 months with 31 emails.
- I mailed the print books to the backers who requested print this week. I emailed the eBooks to the other backers last week.
- In the email with the eBook, I included a link to the Amazon Customer Review page for my book. I already have 7 reviews, but there’s a 3-day lag, and my backers have told me they’ve submitted reviews, so I know more will be published soon.
- In the print book back matter, I included a request for a review and a link to the Amazon Customer Review page.
- I’ve asked my backers to share my book with their friends on their social media sites.
