Researching copyrights

with Dr. C. Daniel Miller, The Copyright Detective

Works created and/or published before 1978 are tricky when it comes to rights and permissions, since they may or may not still have copyright protection. Dan Miller will explain how to search the Copyright Office database and determine whether the work you want to use is protected by copyright. Registrants will also receive a free copy of Dan Miller’s book Copyright Clearance for Creatives on request (retail price $29.95). To claim this offer, email Dan no later than midnight Pacific on 5/28/22 with your mailing address.

Takeaways include:

  • Learn how to navigate the Copyright Office database.
  • Learn how to determine the copyright status of a work.
  • Be able to decide if permission or a fair use determination is needed for the work you want to use
