MORNING PRESENTATION:
Successful Indie Publishing: Latest Trends & Data from the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA)
Angela Bole, CEO Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA)

In 2019, the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), the largest publisher association in the US serving indie and author-publishers, conducted a survey of its 3,200 members to find out – among other things – what makes a successful indie publisher. During this special presentation exclusively for BAIPA members and guests, IBPA CEO Angela Bole will unpack the IBPA member survey data and facilitate a conversation about indie publishing highs, lows, and everything in between. Join us to benchmark your publishing program against others in the industry while learning best practices from your peers.

PROGRAM TAKEAWAYS:
1. Benchmark your publishing program against others in the industry.
2. Learn indie publishing best practices from your peers.
3. Learn about the Independent Book Publishers Association.
4. Learn how BAIPA is connected to the Independent Book Publishers Association.

NO AFTERNOON WORKSHOP

Instead, everyone attending the morning session is welcome to bring a bag lunch and stay for a casual gathering with discussions around the tables. We’ll provide some conversation starters at each table in case they’re helpful, but you probably won’t need them. This is a chance to hang out informally with your BAIPA friends and colleagues. Discuss the morning presentation, what you’re each working on, or pick the brains of your community around some problem or challenge or opportunity. There will be no formal afternoon workshop, but there will be a reason to stick around for a bit, relax and socialize.

About Our Morning Speaker: Angela Bole

Angela Bole

Angela Bole is chief executive officer of the Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA), the largest book publishing association in the U.S. serving independent publishers and self-published authors. IBPA’s mission is to lead and serve the independent publishing community through advocacy, education, and tools for success. IBPA’s vision is a world where every independent publisher has the tools and knowledge needed to professionally engage in all aspects of the publishing industry.

Prior to joining IBPA, Angela served two years as deputy executive director of the Book Industry Study Group (BISG), an organization that fosters conversation and consensus across all sectors of the book business. Before that, she served two years as BISG’s associate director and two years as its marketing and communications manager.

Angela holds a Masters of Science in Book Publishing from New York University and, in 2017, was awarded the Book Industry Study Group’s Industry Champion Award, given to an individual whose efforts have gone beyond the requirements of his or her position to advance the book industry.
