Dear BAIPA Members,
I am pleased to report that BAIPA was represented at this year’s SF Writers Conference in the Mark Hopkins Hotel and we enjoyed a relatively successful outcome. We were there as an Exhibitor although distinctive in that we offered an educational service and networking, whereas most other Exhibitors were product-based. During our presence all-day Friday and Saturday, and Sunday morning, we received a steady stream of mainly authors interested in our mission and services. Twenty seven signed up on our email list for more information, and a number indicated an intention to become members. We hope to see them at future monthly meetings.
Seventeen of the sign-ups were from the Bay Area and others were from as far afield as Ohio, Colorado, Arizona, Los Angeles, Eureka, and Sacramento. The Conference itself attracted participants nationwide, and from overseas countries such as Germany, Switzerland, China, Australia, and New Zealand. Several Board members assisted in hosting our table, and regular members Judy Juanita, Tamara Shiloh, Russell Fitzgerald, and Lynn Fraley served as volunteers. My thanks to them.
We also initiated several new leads for future Speakers at our regular monthly meetings which the Board will investigate further. Remember, members are always welcome to suggest topics or speakers that they think will benefit themselves and other members to achieve a successful self-publishing outcome. Refer your ideas to any Board member at any time. Thank you for reading me.
