BAIPA member Tim Jollymore will be out and about in Oakland making appearances for two of his books, Listener in the Snow and Observation Hill. Come support him!
LISTENER IN THE SNOW, 6:00 p.m., Thursday, May 28, 2015 at Laurel Books (a new store in Downtown Oakland). His last reading of Listener. It would be great to support this new, daring adventure Laurel has undertaken. It is the first bookstore to open in Oakland’s downtown since Barnes and Noble pulled out of Jack London Square 8 years ago.
Tim Jollymore’s debut novel explores struggles of identity in multicultural and multi-racial society from the viewpoint of the working class. These contests play out in spare, natural settings and every day domestic life.
OBSERVATION HILL, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2015 at Lakeview Library (at the head of Lake Merritt between Grand and Lakeshore, 550 El Embarcadero). This will be a PRE-LAUNCH party and SNEAK PEEK reading of the book that will be released August 1, 2015, OBSERVATION HILL, a novel of class and murder.
Murder is bad enough, but when economic class enters in, it gets messy. Tim Jollymore worked as a local historian at the St. Louis County Historical Society (Duluth, MN) absorbing the background of Observation Hill. His knowledge of place – based in part on mansion murders in town – brings this story to life!
