Writing Retreat at Commonweal Retreat Center

August 21, 2016 by Lily O'Brien

Dear BAIPA Members: Join David Colin Carr and Laura Davis
for a Deeply Healing Writer’s Journey

Commonweal

Writing as a Pathway Through Grief, Loss,
Uncertainty and Change at
Commonweal Retreat Center, Bolinas, California
October 5 – 11, 2016

Laura Davis, Seven-Time Author and Master Teacher, will be assisted by Nancy London, author of Hot Flashes Warm Bottles: First-Time Mothers over Forty and co-author of Our Bodies, Our Selves, and David Colin Carr, editor, counselor, and co-author of Forever and Always

The retreat will be held at the incomparable Commonweal Retreat Center in Bolinas, California, where Laura and I have taught every year for the past ten years. Come prepared to absorb the stark beauty of the wild California coastline at the height of Indian summer. It’s a gorgeous, wild, beautiful haven.

Writing in community—and being deeply witnessed—is a gentle yet powerful tool for change. Our week together will provide you with a healing oasis, a way to harness the power of story as a healing, transformative force. You will walk away with new friends, increased self-love, and tools for self-healing — a creative pathway toward connection, acceptance, and the capacity to embrace the future—whatever it may be.

If you’re grieving a loss; grappling with aging, retirement, illness, a shift in status or relationship, or are moving through a period of uncertainty in your life, join Laura and her supportive cast for a creative, healing journey using words and stories as the vehicle for insight and integration. This weeklong writing retreat is designed to help you find your bearings midst the messy, uncomfortable, inevitable life challenges we all face as human beings.

The meals are fresh, organic and deeply satisfying. Accommodations are peaceful and quiet, conducive to creativity and deep rest.

Writers of all levels are welcome: 30 CEUs for MFT, LCSW.
