Dear BAIPA Members:
Did you see the little article in the latest Kindle Direct Publishing Newsletter about them encouraging authors to become Amazon Associates so they could earn a little more money on book sales made through links on your website?
Here is the excerpt about this from the newsletter:
“You can earn advertising fees from the Amazon Associates Program by linking readers from your website, blog, or social media content to Amazon. When your readers make a purchase on Amazon through your referral links, you could earn 4% or more in advertising fees on eligible books and other products. Just register and place Associates links on your online content channels. Referring readers to find your book on Amazon can boost not only your potential book sales, but also earn you potential referral fees at the same time.
“Learn more about the Amazon Associates Program.”
It used to be that Amazon would frown on such things, that the only Associates (read affiliates) that they wanted were ones that had a lot of traffic. It may be that they are looking to drive traffic to Amazon pages any which way they can. So why not profit from that?
Now, when you go to fill out the application, they will ask you all sorts of questions about your website, including “How do you drive traffic to your website(s)?” Check as many of those that you can that even sound like possibilities for you to take on in the future. They just want to know what your intentions are. Below is a screenshot of the question.
Lastly, I wanted to mention a story that David Kudler told at our Everything Amazon day, where someone used his Amazon Associate link for one of his books on his website, and then eventually bought a big home appliance, and David got a nice affiliate commission on that sale.
The reason that is possible, is that your Amazon Associate code is embedded in your links and gets carried forward to whatever that person might buy on Amazon if they get to Amazon using your coded link.

Quick Resources
Current BAIPA members do not need to register for our monthly meetings. The night before the meetings, they will receive the Zoom info. For workshop registration, members can buy a member ticket and will receive the Zoom info the night before the meetings, as well as in the confirmation email.

Thank you for the additional tips of the day and info about the check boxes! I will revisit this. I had Amazon Associate links on my website already and added my own ‘Dawn to Dusk Enterprises Bookstore’ on my site recently.
