Napa and Sonoma Travel Book Wins Pinnacle Award
Andy Hyman, author and tour guide at Platypus Tours Ltd. in California’s wine country, announced that Snob Free Wine Tasting Companion, Wine Smart in a Day, Napa & Sonoma Edition, has been recognized with the Pinnacle Award from the National Association of Book Entrepreneurs (NABE). Hyman’s book was named best travel book in NABE’s Winter 2016 competition. BAIPA member Marla Rosner is Andy’s wife, and has been in a partner in the development of this book.
An “edutaining” read, Snob Free Wine Tasting Companion helps people get over the hump of being intimidated when they tour wineries. The book has humor, great color photos, and information for those who want to get up to speed quickly about wine tasting, and learn the area’s history and geography.
When Hyman first started his work as a tour guide three years ago, he did a lot of research to learn about wine, wine tasting, wineries, and Napa and Sonoma. He listened intently to winemakers who addressed his tour groups, and visited four wineries a day. “After ushering hundreds of tourists through the wine country, I condensed the most compelling information for visitors to the area in my book.”
Each April, five hosts in the heart of the wine country open their doors for tours of their homes. Meet the author at the upcoming Kitchens in the Vineyards benefit in Napa on April 30. He will be on hand at the Country Board and Barn Home to talk with guests and sign books. The book is also available at snobfreewinetasting.com and in paperback and e-book format at apple.com/ibooks and on Amazon.
