Be sure to circle Saturday, November 8, in red: Mark Coker, founder of Smashwords, the world’s largest distributor of self-published ebooks, will speak on: Ten Trends Driving the Future of Publishing.
You will learn the latest strategies for reaching more readers with more indie ebooks. Mark will help you position your publishing to maximum advantage within this period of dramatic change.
His afternoon intensive three-hour e-publishing workshop will be divided into three segments: (1) Introduction to Ebook Publishing; (2) Ebook Publishing Best Practices; and (3) Ebook Preorder Strategy. If you’re considering publishing an ebook, or you want to make your current e-publishing efforts more successful, then you won’t want to miss this great opportunity.
The ebook revolution has taken the publishing industry by storm, and self-published authors are leading the charge. Self-published authors now grace the New York Times bestseller list on a regular basis. A couple of years ago, this was almost unheard-of.
Learn Mark’s strategies that have helped dozens of Smashwords authors hit the bestseller lists. A great preorder starts with smart planning, strategy and execution. Mark will show you how!
In the workshop, you will learn how to e-publish like a pro! Learn merchandising secrets for iBooks, and how to make your next book launch more successful with ebook preorders.
In 2013 Mark Coker paid about $17 million to authors, or 85% of his sales of about $20 million for ebooks. He does not sell “author services,” only the ebooks themselves, so he collects his first dollar when the author also collects his or her first dollar. Over 98% of Smashwords sales come from retailers other than Amazon, in spite of the fact that Amazon may account for 60 percent of all ebook sales. Why does Mark Coker not do so little work with Amazon? That is an important question to ask. Learn how to diversify your sales outside of Amazon.
Thanks to longtime BAIPA member, travel writer Lee Foster, for helping to arrange this event.
