We’re not intentionally keeping the BAIPA website secret. It only seems that way.
Most visitors don’t explore beyond the next month’s presentation or a few blog posts, but there’s a lot more on our site that might interest or inspire you.
Here’s Part 1 of our guided tour:
Under the Member menu, scroll down to find the Get the Most Out of Your BAIPA Membership. Some of the tips are pretty obvious — attend our monthly meetings and workshops and wear your name badge. Other tips bear repeating — speak into the microphone as if it were an ice cream cone, holding it up to your mouth.
Of course, the best way to get the most out of your membership is to volunteer! Scroll down to Volunteer Opportunities.
BAIPA’s greatest asset is its members and their collective wisdom, experience, and expertise. The best way to access this expertise is at our monthly meetings, especially for the Q & A we start each meeting with, but for those other 29 or 30 days in the month, you can visit the member profiles and search for expertise.
You can find the Member Profiles under the Member menu. To search, scroll down the right sidebar. You can search by name, genre, expertise, and city. If your profile is empty, well, this is a self-service operation. You need to go in and upload your author photo and add your content. To do so, you must log in. Which means you need to know your password. If you don’t, contact me at [email protected], and I’ll help you get in.
Another way to learn more about your BAIPA colleagues is to check out our interview section — interviews by BAIPA members of BAIPA members. Of course, we don’t have everyone there, only thirteen. Want to interview a fellow author? Or be interviewed? Contact me at [email protected]. Learn more about the BAIPA Author Interviews here.
We’re just getting started with the member forum and you can see there are more questions than answers. Maybe you can add your questions or answers to the thread. (We also have a BAIPA Answers Forum on Facebook, and you’re welcome to post there as well, but we know some of our members are leery of Facebook so we’re hoping the Member Forum on our website will take off.)
Another new feature is out Member Portal, which is under the Resources menu. You need to be a logged-in member to access that. We will be adding videos and audios of our workshops, as well as other member-only resources. Check it out.
Secrets of BAIPA Website, Part 2 is coming in May.
