BAIPA member Susan Pace-Koch was born in Alaska, raised in Washington and now resides in California. She founded Get Out Books, which creates delightful books that take children outside of their normal realm, and into their imaginations.
Lately, her books have been getting a lot of attention!
“The Mermaid and the Moon,” a story of friendships, challenges, teamwork and fun written by Susan Pace-Koch and illustrated by Tracie Timmer, was recently featured at the Sun Gallery in Hayward in the 26th Annual Children’s Book Illustrator Exhibit—and handmade Merkids cloth dolls are being created for fall/winter book shows!
Another of her books, “A Pie for a Pig” was recently picked up for an Educational App by Guidance Education Technologies, and is available for download from the Apple Store.
The Pigs are now speaking Chinese—and writing and sounding out words!
Another of Susan’s books, “Get Out of My Head, I Should Go To Bed,” which was illustrated by Jeremy Kwan (and is a BAIPA-award winner) was referenced in an article by Joanna Krauss entitled “Summer reads perfect for little ones,” in the Bay Area News Group, Books and Authors, Children’s Lit Column on Sunday, June 14, 2015.
