Exposure Comes in Many Forms
Besides the traditional book “reading”, BAIPA member Julie Freestone and her co-author Rudi Raab have been doing a few other events to get exposure for their historical novel Stumbling Stone. Most recently, they met with a book group of seven local readers (and have two more groups scheduled). Because everyone had read the book, which is part mystery, part romance, the authors were able to talk about Part III of the book, which they avoid during their formal events. “The book group experience was really intimate and allowed us to discuss Stumbling Stone in new ways.” One experienced writer—who did a lot of blogging with book groups to get her book more visibility—suggested Skypeing with book groups.
