Should you be in the Reno area on March 13, I’m on the Nevada Historical Society’s Writers’ Wednesday.
I’ll be in the hot seat with Peggy Wynne Borgman and we’ll be talking about how my nonfiction book – my husband’s memoir of wrangling wealthy dudes from 1947 to ’49 on Nevada’s famous Flying M E divorce ranch twenty miles south of Reno – inspired Peggy to write a novel set on a Nevada divorce ranch.
Peggy got the idea for her novel from a copy of the first edition of The Divorce Seekers (published in 2004 in hardcover) she found in a Carson City book shop. In 2020, she asked me to vet her manuscript for historical accuracy. In 2023, I asked her to write “Once Upon a Time in RENO,” the introduction to my new edition of The Divorce Seekers (published in 2023 in paperback and ebook formats).
There will be wine, cheese, vintage images on the big screen, and a Q&A. If we don’t know the answers, we’ll improvise. After all, we’re writers.
