For me, the most valuable benefits of being a BAIPA member are all the other members, more specifically the incredible amount of experience, wisdom, and skills you all share during the morning Q & A.
For those of you who haven’t been to a meeting for a while, we start at 9 a.m., as people continue to roll in, with the BAIPA president soliciting questions from attendees. Then, almost always, come answers, sometimes from two or three sources. Not always accurately answering the question, but most of the time.
We on the BAIPA board have this idea we’ve been whispering to each other for some time — what if we collected all those questions and answers, organized them into a book, and published it? After all, we do know a few things about publishing books.
So that’s our plan for 2018 — the Big BAIPA Independent Publishing Answer Book.
Of course, as an all-volunteer organization, we can only make this Answer Book happen with a healthy dollop of volunteer energy.
We announced this new publishing project at our December meeting and solicited volunteers as well as preliminary questions. Thanks to those of you who raised your hands to help — we’ll be in touch soon — and contributed questions.
Here’s what we need:
- Volunteers to take notes/transcribe the Q & A sessions and then edit them for publication. (We’d like to schedule two people per meeting.)
- An editorial team to oversee the project, select questions, organize the book, and so on.
- Additional questions you’d like answered. You can submit them below.
