I love serving on the BAIPA Board! What a fun and energetic group and one that is very committed to BAIPA’s success and the success of its members! We meet on the first Monday of every month, 5:30-7:30 pm (dinner included), currently at McInnis Golf Clubhouse (Smith Ranch Rd exit). All of us also put in time outside these meetings (and the member meetings, of course) to keep BAIPA flowing and growing.
And BAIPA is growing fast, which is great for all our members. It increases the resources of expertise available to each of us. It also makes it possible for us to bring in more and more powerful, high level presenters that can help us reach ever-greater heights in our independent publishing efforts. This in turn raises the quailty of our work in the world of independent publishing, which improves the reputation of independent publishing. We help ‘all boats rise’ as we grow.
At this point, we need more BAIPA members with energy and expertise to step up and join us on the Board as leaders. In general we are looking for folks who really care about BAIPA, are good at working on a team and at problem-solving. Skills that we are especially looking for at this time include:
- volunteer management (finding and managing volunteers to do things like help with meeting registration, getting handouts copied, buying food for the meeting snacks, etc);
- communications management (social media, public relations, etc);
- liaison to the Key Room;
- financial management and long-range fiscal planning;
- technology skills (managing Google accounts, posting blog posts, ease with WordPress, etc);
- events coordinator (managing details of events BAIPA participates in as outreach such as writers conferences, book fairs, etc);
- video/multi-media management (oversight of videoed presentations, getting them posted on YouTube and linked to our site).
If you feel like you have something to offer by service on the board in any of these areas, please let us know. We need you! You can email me at [email protected] and we’ll set up a time to meet and discuss whether it feels like a good fit for you and the Board. Together we can make amazing things happen.
