The Real Life of “Selfies” (Self-Publishers)—Five BAIPA Members, from First-timers to Pros—Tell Their Stories.
That’s what you have to look forward to at the next BAIPA meeting on June 13.
To register for the program, visit JuneBAIPAreg. To order lunch, visit JuneLunch.
There will be a blog post about each of the speakers prior to the event. And now, meet Lee Foster.
After publishing 16 books with traditional publishers, Lee Foster has gained his “independence” and has switched to self-publishing—a path he recommends for most authors. “Self-publishing is now an ascending practice and will continue to thrive in my assessment of the current market.”
“Technology developments make ‘indie’ publishing more plausible with each passing year. Increasing market access for indie authors continues to erode the domain that traditional publishers once ruled exclusively,” Lee said.
His new book, An Author’s Perspective on Independent Publishing covers all the logical subjects that developed from his own experience, which he will outline in his brief presentation on the June 13 morning panel.
Lee is a travel writer and photographer extraordinaire—with a long stream of awards including: being named Lowell Thomas Travel Journalist of the Year, and Silver Winner by the Society of American Travel Writers Foundation, four writing awards from Bay Area Travel Writers, and four writing awards from the Society of American Travel Writers. In addition, two of his photos won the SATW 2011 Master Photo Competition awards.
Capitalizing on the popularity of smartphones, Lee has published four travel apps:
- San Francisco Travel and Photo Guide
- Washington DC Travel and Photo Guide
- Berkeley Essential Guide
- Travels in an American Imagination [an e-book of his travel literary book].
Lee offers travel writing/photography to consumers and to content buyers (for licensing) on 200 worldwide subjects on his website: www.fostertravel.com. The entire travel photo selection can best be seen via his dedicated photo-selling site on PhotoShelter at stockphotos.fostertravel. Travel enthusiasts are invited to enjoy these articles and Lee’s blog, which presents timely posts or article updates once a week.
