Several authors have recently received emails warning that their IngramSpark accounts will be suspended unless they agree to updated terms and conditions. The emails feel urgent—and for authors who rely on IngramSpark for bookstore and library distribution, understandably alarming.

Here’s the key point up front:

The email many authors received is not legitimate.

The Email Is Not from IngramSpark

The warning emails are coming from:

info@ingramspark.com

That is not an official IngramSpark email address.

When I asked the IngramSpark virtual assistant directly, this was the response:

“The email info@ingramspark.com is not a legitimate IngramSpark email. Official emails from us use the domain @ingramcontent.com. Please treat any message from info@ingramspark.com with caution, as it is not affiliated with our company.”

Translation:

This is almost certainly a spoofed or phishing email. Do not click links. Do not log in through the message.

How IngramSpark Actually Handles Agreement Updates

Like all major publishing platforms, IngramSpark does occasionally update its user agreement. When that happens:

  • You see a notice after logging in directly

  • The prompt appears on your account dashboard

  • You’re asked to review and accept the terms before continuing

  • Any legitimate email communication will come from the domain @ingramcontent.com

They do not rely on third-party-looking emails to threaten account suspension.

If an email demands immediate action, your safest move is simple:

Go directly to the IngramSpark website and log in yourself.

What to Do If You Received This Email

  1. Do not click any links

  2. Do not reply

  3. Log in directly to your IngramSpark account

  4. Check for a legitimate agreement prompt on your dashboard

  5. If none appears, your account is fine

  6. Mark the email as spam or phishing

That’s it.

Why Authors Are Being Targeted

IngramSpark is part of Ingram Content Group, which supplies books to bookstores and libraries worldwide. Because authors depend on that access, scammers know that “account suspension” messages get attention.

As self-publishing continues to professionalize, authors are increasingly targeted with:

  • Fake platform emails

  • Spoofed invoices

  • Urgent “action required” notices

This is annoying—but it’s also manageable with a little vigilance.

Bottom Line

  • Emails from info@ingramspark.com are not legitimate

  • IngramSpark agreement updates happen inside your account, not via scare emails

  • Legitimate IngramSpark emails come from @ingramcontent.com

  • Always log in directly to verify

  • Pause before reacting to anything labeled “urgent”

Staying calm and methodical is now part of being a professional author.
