P1010012John Brooks will read from his book, The Girl Behind The Door, at the Marin County Library, Fairfax Branch Thursday Nov. 6, 2014 at 7 p.m., located at 2097 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. right across from St Rita’s church.
John spent over 25 years in media finance working in senior positions in financial institutions and as Chief Financial Officer of two radio groups.

Then, in 2008, his life collapsed with the loss of Casey, his adopted daughter. One year later, his division at Wells Fargo Bank was axed, a victim of the financial meltdown and onset of the Great Recession.

He turned to writing, advocacy (for a suicide barrier on the Golden Gate Bridge) and working with teens, bringing awareness to mental health issues that increasingly affect kids as young as middle school.

The Girl Behind The Door’ details his search for answers to Casey’s suicide.

One of my favorite things about BAIPA is its culture of generosity, the willingness — even eagerness — to share what we have each learned in the process of bringing stories to life. We provide educational programs, networking, marketing opportunities, encouragement, and information on industry vendors and services. And lots of one-on-one advice and mentoring.

We welcome all who have an interest in making connections within the world of independent publishing and learning more about how to publish and sell their work successfully. Together we are raising the standard of independent publishing and helping our members thrive.

Do join us!
