Suppose you have published and created demand for your book in bookstores and libraries. What is the best way to distribute your book?
Jackie Thompson

Jackie Thompson

Our September speaker, Jackie Thompson will provide answers to that question in her morning presentation.  Thompson has worked with publishers such as Nolo Press and now is Content Acquisition Business Development Manager for Ingram Content Group in Berkeley.

Ingram is one of the world’s largest distributors of books, with 39,000 outlets, including most bookstores and libraries.  The company is the distributor for 11 million books for 25,000 publishers.
IngramSpark-WebsiteLogoOf particular interest to BAIPA members will be Thompson‘s answers to questions such as:
        * For print-on-demand books, how does the Ingram Spark program differ from the earlier Lightning Source?
        * If a BAIPA member prints a book in offset, is it possible to distribute it through Ingram?
        * How is Ingram developing ebook distribution as well as print book distribution?
        * Do Ingram’s efforts with bookstores and libraries complement Amazon’s in direct sales to consumers?
        * Does Ingram plan direct-to-consumer selling?
        * Will advances in the technology of color in POD books eventually make color books more economically viable in POD format?
