“A Pie for a Pig,” a children’s picture book written by BAIPA member Susan Pace-Koch, has been selected to be in the 25th Annual Children’s Book Illustrator Exhibit from February 7 – April 7, 2014, at the Sun Gallery in Hayward. Illustrations from the book, created by Jack Wiens for Get Out Books, will also be shown.
There will be a reception for artists and a book signing on Sunday, March 16, from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. Go to www.SunGallery.org for more info. The Sun Gallery invites teachers and classes to visit the gallery and enjoy free art Saturdays and special workshops.
A special exhibit of “Pigs with Personalities” based on Jack Wiens’ pig characters will be on display. These felted creations are by fiber artist Lisa Colom of Merry Manias.
There also will be an audio file accompanying the exhibit, by BAIPA member Becky Parker Geist of Pro Audio Voices, for visitors’ enjoyment.
Publisher Get Out Books, of Concord, California, also partners with the Benicia Education Foundation to support district schools and libraries.

One of my favorite things about BAIPA is its culture of generosity, the willingness — even eagerness — to share what we have each learned in the process of bringing stories to life. We provide educational programs, networking, marketing opportunities, encouragement, and information on industry vendors and services. And lots of one-on-one advice and mentoring.
We welcome all who have an interest in making connections within the world of independent publishing and learning more about how to publish and sell their work successfully. Together we are raising the standard of independent publishing and helping our members thrive.
Do join us!
