BAIPA member Stevanne Auerbach’s new book release, My Butterfly Collection — On the Wings of the Butterfly, is a striking combination of articles from well-known writers, photography and art. It was published on January 25 by Regent Press in Berkeley, and is her 16th book.
Several years ago, a devastating fire destroyed information and objects Dr. Auerbach had gathered for
her butterfly book. When she found the charred manuscript a few years ago, she started writing again.
Fascinated by butterflies since childhood, Dr. Auerbach has become a butterfly activist who wants to inform and inspire readers to respond proactively to the diminishing number of butterflies by growing milkweed and other native host and nectar plants at their homes and schools. She hopes to create a butterfly consciousness and protect butterflies from
extinction.
‘My Butterfly Collection’ makes a great contribution toward saving the environment. Stevanne Auerbach has written a masterpiece on butterflies and their place in the web of life. —David Seaborg, evolutionary biologist, Director, World Rainforest Fund.
Stevanne Auerbach is also known as Dr. Toy; her popular book Dr. Toy’s Smart Play, Smart Toys is in its 4th edition. She has been evaluating toys, games and children’s products for parents and others for years.

One of my favorite things about BAIPA is its culture of generosity, the willingness — even eagerness — to share what we have each learned in the process of bringing stories to life. We provide educational programs, networking, marketing opportunities, encouragement, and information on industry vendors and services. And lots of one-on-one advice and mentoring.
We welcome all who have an interest in making connections within the world of independent publishing and learning more about how to publish and sell their work successfully. Together we are raising the standard of independent publishing and helping our members thrive.
