BAIPA is an all-volunteer organization and we could not host any meetings without volunteers taking on a variety of tasks. But at least for the zoom meetings, there’s not as much to do.
For the upcoming in-person/hybrid meeting on December 7, we will need more volunteers, mostly for smallish tasks like mic runner, check-in, setup and cleanup.
Please consider volunteering. (And don’t forget, there are valuable prizes for those who volunteer.)LINK LINK
At today’s meeting (November 2), we made the call for volunteers and thank you to Carol Jacobson, Charylu Roberts, Judy Baker, Val Sherer, and Tricia Sullivan for agreeing to volunteer.
We need several more volunteers, and it’s useful to have a few floaters, who can fill as necessary on the day of the event.
Below are the roles we need with the names of the people who volunteered for the May meeting. If you can volunteer for that role again, please respond by email to webmaster@baipa.org. The volunteers who have committed to volunteer in December are in bold.
- Venue coordinator: Lynn Fraley
- In-person event team leaders (volunteer coordinators): John Byrne Barry and Tricia Sullivan
- Zoom host/troubleshooter/handling questions: Pam Fenner
(Pam will be attending remotely. We need an on-site volunteer for her to coordinate with.)
- Tablecloths and flowers: Lynn Fraley
- Photographer: Judy Baker
- MC: Becky Parker Geist
- Signage (sandwich boards and setup) and banners: John Byrne Barry
- Set up and take-down: Eloise Hamann, John Byrne Barry, Tricia Sullivan
- Tech support: Bob Heyman, David Kudler
- Microphone runner: Pauline Wiles
- Check-in/registration: Val Sherer, Carol Jacobson, Carol Sheldon,
- Posting on social media (post-event): Cordero-Gonzales
- Floaters on standby to fill in gaps or if others can’t make it:
Please contact me — johnbyrnebarry@gmail.com — to confirm if you’ve played a particular role before or raise your hand if you can help.
Thank you. I look forward to seeing many of you in person in December.

One of my favorite things about BAIPA is its culture of generosity, the willingness — even eagerness — to share what we have each learned in the process of bringing stories to life. We provide educational programs, networking, marketing opportunities, encouragement, and information on industry vendors and services. And lots of one-on-one advice and mentoring.
We welcome all who have an interest in making connections within the world of independent publishing and learning more about how to publish and sell their work successfully. Together we are raising the standard of independent publishing and helping our members thrive.
Do join us!
