Mara Lynn Johnstone was recently on WriterSpeak, the local show that interviews authors. It premieres on November 30 at 7pm on Comcast Channel 26 in Santa Rosa, though it’s already up on YouTube to watch at any time. She recommends this for authors looking to promote their books—it makes for an easily linkable preview, as well as an insight into their writing process. More content for the website.
Mara did a giveaway of her fantasy book, Sweeping Changes, in October and had a surprising success rate—nearly 1,200 people entered to win the single copy, with 500 adding the book to their to-read list. Now she’s running a second giveaway for the first week of December, and will be interested to see if more or fewer people enter this time. Those 500 people will be notified automatically of the giveaway, and Goodreads members who frequent the giveaways list may recognize the cover from before. This could mean either an “Oh hey, I should enter it this time” response, or a “Nah, I saw that already.” Mara will report her findings, for the education of all!
