BAIPA is an all-volunteer organization and we could not host any meetings without volunteers taking on a variety of tasks. But at least for the zoom meetings, there’s not much to do.
For the upcoming in-person/hybrid meeting on December 6, we may need more volunteers, mostly for small tasks like mic runner, check-in, setup and cleanup.
Many of the members who volunteered for the last several in-person meetings will probably be able to do so again, but we can’t leave that to chance. Tricia Sullivan and I are coordinating the volunteers for December’s meeting, though, hint, hint, I’d be more than happy to step aside if any of you would raise your hand to work with Tricia on this.
Below are the roles we need with the names of the people who volunteered for the last in-person meeting. If you can volunteer for that role again, please respond by email to webmaster@baipa.org. The volunteers who have committed to volunteer in December are in bold.
- Venue coordinator: Lynn Fraley
- In-person event team leaders (volunteer coordinators): John Byrne Barry and Tricia Sullivan
- Zoom host/troubleshooter/handling questions: Pam Fenner
(Pam will be attending remotely. We need an on-site volunteer for her to coordinate with.)
- Tablecloths and flowers: Lynn Fraley
- Photographer: Judy Baker and Stephen Rustad
- MC: Becky Parker Geist
- Signage (sandwich boards and setup) and banners: John Byrne Barry
- Set up and take-down: Eloise Hamann, John Byrne Barry, Tricia Sullivan
- Tech support: Bob Heyman, David Kudler
- Microphone runner: Pauline Wiles
- Check-in/registration: Val Sherer, Carol Jacobson, Carol Sheldon,
- Posting on social media (post-event): ????
- Floaters on standby to fill in gaps or if others can’t make it: ????
Please contact Tricia or me to confirm if you’ve played a particular role before or raise your hand if you can help.
Thank you. I look forward to seeing many of you in person in December.

One of my favorite things about BAIPA is its culture of generosity, the willingness — even eagerness — to share what we have each learned in the process of bringing stories to life. We provide educational programs, networking, marketing opportunities, encouragement, and information on industry vendors and services. And lots of one-on-one advice and mentoring.
We welcome all who have an interest in making connections within the world of independent publishing and learning more about how to publish and sell their work successfully. Together we are raising the standard of independent publishing and helping our members thrive.
Do join us!
