Beth is a marine biologist, mother, and an author. Her husband’s unusual stroke inspired the couple’s three-year sailing expedition with their young son from Alaska to Mexico and led her to write Deep Waters: A Memoir of Loss, Adventure, and Love Rekindled (She Writes Press, May 2, 2023). A professor at the University of Alaska in Juneau for two decades, she studied marine mammals with her students in Glacier Bay National Park.
