Like our monthly meetings, these events are exclusively on Zoom. The Zoom links will be provided to you via the confirmation email you will get upon completing your registration, as well as via email on the Friday evening before, around 9 PM.
Therefore, all non-members MUST register in advance in order to participate. However, all current BAIPA members will get the Zoom info for this session automatically.
NOTE: We are trying out offering free tickets to current BAIPA members, through April, 2026, and then we will evaluate.

How to Write a Compelling Op-Ed That Earns You Book Sales
Op-Eds sell books. In this workshop, we will work on how to structure an op-ed (personal narrative, reaction to current events, or both?). We’ll look at real slush pile examples of successful op-eds from authors. We’ll learn how to fact-check your work, include your sources, and support your opinion with verifiable data. We’ll learn what goes into a pitch to an editor and what you should expect in return.
Each approach for op-ed is a little different, We’ll break it down together with purpose. This workshop includes feedback on one op-ed draft.

About Our Speaker: Bonnie Jean Feldkamp
Bonnie Jean Feldkamp is an award-winning syndicated columnist published in newspapers across the United States via Creators Syndicate. She’s been writing, publishing and mentoring writers for more than 20 years. Feldkamp is the former community engagement and opinion editor for the Louisville Courier Journal as well as the former media director for the National Society of Newspaper Columnists. Her TEDx Talk “Contempt Versus Connection in Online Communication” aims to encourage productive discourse and foster commentary with compassion.
