Workshop: BookTok Talk and Takeaways with Desireé Duffy

Here’s the next BAIPA Morning Workshop!

Like our monthly meetings, these events are exclusively on Zoom, at least until we get through this COVID-19 crisis. The Zoom links will be provided to you via email on the Friday evening before, around 9 PM.

for this two-hour workshop.

Member tickets are $25.00, Non-Member tickets are $40.

#TikTok is more than just a social media platform, it is an entertainment platform with devoted fan bases. Is it right for you?

Takeaways include:

  • Find creators and influencers on #TikTok that align with your genre/brand
  • How to develop a hotlist and conduct an outreach to popular #BookTok creators
  • Knowing the community and making authentic connections
  • Letting go and being creative on this interactive and fast-paced platform

This workshop WILL be recorded and a link will be sent to all paid participants by 6 PM on the following Monday.

About Our Speaker

Desireé Duffy is the Founder of Black Château, a marketing and public relations agency; Books That Make You, a multi-media brand that promotes books and authors through its award-winning website, podcast, and radio show; and the Webby Award-nominated The BookFest® Adventure, a biannual online event that brings together book lovers from around the world. Duffy is an advocate for spreading stories, ideas, and making the future awesome. Her expansive marketing, event production, broadcast, and public relations background, mixed with her passion for storytelling, led her to found the multi-award-winning, full-service marketing and public relations firm, Black Château, in 2016. She is a speaker on topics such as branding, marketing, digital and traditional media. In addition to holding the license and being the lead organizer for TEDxResedaBlvd in 2019, she produces events including The BookFest®, the annual Beach-Bound Book Bash, Jingle Books, and has programed panels and placed speakers for writers conferences, Digital Hollywood, the Alliance for Women in Media, Women in Business, the 805 Writers Conference and more. She also hosts, and is the executive producer, for the Books That Make You Show, and is on the board of directors for the Independent Writers of Southern California.

Current BAIPA members do not need to register for our monthly meetings. The night before the meetings, they will receive the Zoom info. However, members must log in to get a discounted ticket for workshops.

BAIPA Monthly Meetings

IMPORTANT
BAIPA is now meeting on the first Saturday of every month via Zoom only for now. In general, if the first Saturday falls on a holiday or holiday weekend, we will meet on the second Saturday.

We are also having workshops on the third Saturday of every month (also via Zoom only for now. In general, if the regular monthly meeting moves to the second Saturday, then the workshop will be two weeks later.

  • September 9th: Andrea Fleck-Nisbet, Chief Executive Officer, Independent Book Publishers Association on the latest trends in indie publishing.NOTE: that this is the SECOND SATURDAY of the month.
  • October 7th: Melody Owen speaking on how to partner with podcasters to build your following and sell more books.
